緑繁る桑畑。清水湧く山々に囲まれた蚕の住む里。白い昆虫の吐く糸が繭の玉になり、いろあざやかな絹糸に染められる。近世に限りなく近ずいた色糸が織られ、そして能装束によみがえる。自然と共にあって、能楽のさまざまな情報を兼ね備える資料館。
Mulberry leaves gently swaying in the breeze. The sound of munching silkworms like rain. Here, in Azai, we exhibit materials related to noh and noh costumes. Azai has produced silk of the finest quality since the Edo period.
Deeply appreciative of the importance of quality, we have chosen to make and reproduce noh costumes among the open fields where the silk for the garments worn by the shogun, daimyo and noh actors was produced. Anyone wishing first-hand experience of silk raising, reeling, dyeing, or weaving is welcome to try their hands here.
For those new to the world of noh, photographs of performance by famous actors from the Meiji period on relate the intense atmosphere pervading the spirit of noh.
For those with a deeper involvement, periodic gatherings, of noh actors, craftsman, and other interested persons will meet in pursuit of deeper understanding and wider awareness.
そよそよと風に揺らぐ桑の葉。ザーッとまるで雨のような桑を食す音。ここでは、能楽資料の展示と能装束の出来るまでを紹介しています。
ここ浅井の里は、江戸時代から上質の絹糸を産し、将軍・大名家の衣服や能装束に使われていました。私達もここで絹糸からこだわり、少しでも良い能装束をつくろうと復元の作業をしています。そして、自然の中で蚕飼・繰糸・染め・織とそれぞれの過程において、基本となることを実践しています。
能楽が、初めての方々にもご理解いただけるよう、明治時代以後に活躍した能役者名人達の写真等を通して、その中にあふれる緊張した空気、能楽の精神性を伝えてゆきたいと願っています。又、定期的に伝統文化フォーラム・能役者・その他幅広い分野の方々と親しく集い、能楽と言う共通の話題を温めあい、知識を深めあう場としたいのです。
